Sports fans all over the world, Foxtel has launched a side streaming platform for sports only. Kayo Sports is the new big name in Australia. It is an Australian brand that brings you the most popular sports under one roof and straight to your screens. Unfortunately, due to licensing rights, you have to be in Australia to stream Kayo’s content. Don’t worry, I live abroad and the channel works just fine. I’ve never missed any event the channel broadcasts. Yeah, trust me it’s doable. The guide below will explain the steps I took.
What’s Wrong with Kayo Sports?
Honestly, nothing is wrong with the channel itself. Due to licensing rights with the channel’s global partners, you have to be in Australia to watch sports on Kayo. It’s just a matter of location. Even if you’re an Australian citizen living overseas, you won’t get to stream the channel’s content. You see, the problem lies with your IP address. It’s the factor the channel uses to determine your current location, the same way other websites do.
While streaming the channel abroad, instead of getting your long-awaited match, you’ll be receiving this geo-error message:
“Sorry, Kayo Sports is only available for sports fans within Australia”
I know you want to circumvent the issue and that’s exactly why I’m here. To do so, you have to trick the channel into thinking that you’re within its area of coverage. It’s plain and simple. Scroll a bit further to the south and find out.
What’s the Solution Though?
The solution is called a Virtual Private Network. It’s an internet tool that protects your data by implementing highly-advanced encryptions once you hit connect. Your data will flow through a private tunnel and get rerouted within a server of your choosing. Wait, that’s not the best part. You also get to spoof your location to wherever that server is located. Hint, if it’s in the US, websites will think that you’re in the US. If it’s in Australia, then an Australian resident you will be. It’s really quite simple.
In your case, you need an Australian server. Upon connecting, you’ll receive an Australian IP address. But you may ask yourself, what happens to your original one. Well, the VPN cloaks that making you completely anonymous when you’re browsing the web. That will sure elude any interference from your ISP or government.
Now, what do you say I gave you the tips you need to access Kayo Sport abroad?
- To kick it off, you must invest in a reputable VPN service provider. To narrow it down for those who don’t know their way around, give ExpressVPN a try.
- Sign up for their service and get their application straight from their website. If that’s too hard, you can also download the VPN’s client from your native App Store.
- Now, launch the application and log in with your username and password.
- Click on the server list and connect to an Australian server.
- Double-check if the connection took place by using our IP verifier.
- Visit Kayo’s website or activate their application.
- Stream Kayo Sports content live, anytime, anywhere in HD.
Wondering Why ExpressVPN?
Let me shed some light on the matter. ExpressVPN will not only bypass regional restrictions, but it will also protect your data from being harvested by cyber criminal and other online entities. First, ExpressVPN adopts a strict no-log policy. I don’t just go around and pick random VPNs to work with.
There’s a certain criterion I follow to determine which VPNs I choose. So far, this VPN has met every expectation. With its zero-logging policy, you can rest assured that none of your data or browsing activities are stored. Not only that, but ExpressVPN has a vast server network that covers more than 90 countries – 3000+ servers if we were to talk about numbers.
On the other hand, (You’re going to love this), the VPN provider doesn’t limit your bypassing habits to what’s natively compatible. Most VPN providers are compatible with iOS, PC, Mac, Android, and FireStick.
However, ExpressVPN offers an expansion to that by providing a free Smart DNS service that comes with a basic subscription. It’s called MediaStreamer, which covers other streaming platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, Chromecast, Apple TV, and Samsung Smart TV. That would come in handy if we were to mention the devices that Kayo Sports support.
One other thing to consider – the country you live in. Some territories come with high internet censorship. I’m talking about the likes of China, UAE, KSA, and Russia. These regions have the means to block VPN access. Luckily, ExpressVPN can work around these blocks and function normally.
But wait, that doesn’t mean that ExpressVPN is the only one capable of getting you Kayo outside Australia. There are still others, and I’ve included them in the table below.
- 30-Day Money-back Guarantee
- Unlimited Bandwidth
- Apps For All Your Devices
- 24/7 Live Support
Devices Compatible with Kayo Sports
You can stream your favorite sporting events live or on-demand on the following platforms:

The * sign is for the devices that are not compatible with VPN clients yet available using Smart DNS.
What’s on Kayo Sports?
Kayo is a paradise for all types of fans. You’ll find more than 50 sports instantly streamed plus heaps more available at any time. Here’s what you can find on the Australian streaming service:
- AFL
- Cricket
- Tennis
- NRL
- NFL

Recollecting Thoughts
Kayo Sports a great deal to those who like to stream their favorite sports live. It doesn’t matter if it’s restricted to Australia or not. With a VPN, you can get past these limitations and tap into its library no matter where you are. Think of it as a key to unlocking the internet’s potential to the max. Now, just follow the steps above carefully and access Kayo Sport in your region. After all that works out for you, tell me about your experience in the comments below.

Hi everyone,
I have good news, I had tried 5 vpns and they would not work with Kayo Sports.
Today I bought BulletVPN to try.
I live in New Zealand and I signed in to Kayo before I turned on Bullet,
I then opened Bulletvpn and connected to an Aussie server – Sydney #1
(its in the list of servers).
I selected Rugby League on Kayo and then Opened the South Sydney/Dragons
game and within seconds it opened and was able to watch it no problems.
Hope this helps you all out.
Cheers Kevin
Hi ExpressVPN, NORDvpn, BulletVPN DO NOT work with Kayo Sports anymore.
I have tried them all. They used to work but since late 2020 they no longer work, so please dont waste yr money ok.

As of today, it is now over 2 months that ExpressVPN has not been working with KayoSports.
As a result of this, I have asked for a refund from ExpressVPN and am actively searching for a replacement VPN.
I would appreciate if articles like this would reflect the changing situation, instead of putting ExpressVPN at the top of their list constantly. It is almost as if it is payed advertising.
I have had Express VPN for many months now and initially I could access Kayo Sports from Malaysia but not any more. It seems that they have found a way to block outside access now. Very frustrating indeed. I have been in regular contact with ExpressVPN about it and tried all the options they suggested but it is still blocked.
as of 27th august express vpn no longer unlocks kayo sports
In the last 24 hours, Kayo has managed to block all of Express VPN’s Australian servers.
I have tried troubleshooting with them directly, with no success
This no longer works – fyi
Kayo Sports is not working with VPN on latest version 1.1.19 . Anyone can help me in this ?
Which VPN are you using?
Didn’t you missed PureVPN. THey too can let you stream it.
How do you get around having to fill in an Australian mobile number while registering online when I’m in Canada?
Thanks
Hi, I got a nord vpn account and set it up on my Sony Android 2016 TV to use an Australian VPN to get the Kayo App installed on my TV. But I don’t see the app in my google play store from my TV. Am I doing it wrong.
Hi San. You need to change your Google Play Store region to Australia first in order to be able to download the Kayo Sport app.
I love watching KAYO from the USA through Express VPN and have no issues at all.
I am now trying to use Chromecast to watch KAYO on my TV however everytime I have tried to share to Chromecast both through the mobile app or my MacBook I get an error with media error.
KAYO say they support Chromecast so I can only think it has something to do with the VPN connection. I use the ExpressVPN app to connect first and then log into KAYO.
Any assistance would be awesome.
I get the same issue logging into my South Africa DSTV app when using Chromecast and they too say they support it. So not sure if Chromecast some how also does a IP check? How do I get around this please?
anyone got it working with vpn?
Hi Jack. Which VPN are you currently using?
